Our History
Since 1978, The Sharing Center has served Central Brevard as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, providing emergency assistance to individuals and families in need.
We were founded by a group of civic-minded residents who recognized a gap in local services. With an all-volunteer team and a small budget, we began by serving just 30 people each month.
In 1985, we expanded with the addition of our Community Kitchen and Thrift Shop. What began as meals donated by local churches has grown into a full kitchen with dedicated staff preparing hot meals daily.
By 1989, we moved into our Cocoa facility to better serve a growing community. As needs continued to rise, we opened a second location in Merritt Island to broaden our reach and deepen our impact.
