Closing the Gap: The Sharing Center Now Providing Food Assistance Every 30 Days

The Sharing Center of Central Brevard is proud to announce an important enhancement to its food assistance program that will provide more timely, consistent support for neighbors facing food insecurity.

Beginning February 9, 2026, clients will be able to receive groceries every 30 days, replacing the previous 60-day rotation.

Why is this change so important? Most clients only need short-term help — typically 60–90 days — while they stabilize their circumstances. Waiting 60 days between pantry visits often left a gap when food was still urgently needed. By moving to a 30-day schedule, The Sharing Center can now provide steadier support during that critical window, helping individuals and households focus on paying bills, securing employment, and caring for loved ones without worrying about where their next meals will come from.

The need across Central Brevard continues to grow. In the past year alone, The Sharing Center distributed more than 1 million pounds of food — the equivalent of 108,000 grocery bags — and assisted 15,000 clients. This expanded access reflects both rising demand and the strength of community support that makes meeting that demand possible.

“This is a significant step forward for the people we serve,” said David Brubaker, President/CEO of the Sharing Center, “Because of our volunteers, donors, and partners, we’re able to respond faster and provide food with greater consistency and dignity.”
