More Than a Grant: Strengthening Families Through Better Nutrition

The Sharing Center of Central Brevard is proud to announce that we have been awarded a 2026 Health First Wellness Grant in the amount of $20,000. This investment represents more than just funding, it’s a meaningful step forward in how we serve our community with dignity, care, and a focus on nutrition.

Our grant initiative, Nourish 32922, was developed to introduce a new and impactful resource into our food pantry, something our clients had clearly identified as a need that was not currently being met. After surveying the families we serve, one request rose above the rest: shelf-stable milk. For many households, access to milk is limited due to cost, refrigeration challenges, or availability, making it a highly valued yet often inaccessible staple.

Thanks to this funding, we have been able to respond directly to that need. Through our partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, we are able to source shelf-stable milk at economical prices, ensuring both sustainability and consistency in our distribution. This new addition has been included in our food pantry packages since March 2026, and the response from our clients has been overwhelmingly positive.

Beyond the immediate impact on our pantry, this partnership with Health First continues to grow in meaningful ways. The Sharing Center has been featured in Health First advertising, helping to shine a broader light on the work being done here in Central Brevard. We were also honored to be selected to share our story through an individual Health First Wellness Grant video, highlighting the real-life impact of this support on the families we serve.

Health First’s commitment to our mission extends well beyond this grant. As valued community partners, they sponsor several of our key initiatives throughout the year, including the Sharing Center/Children’s Hunger Project 5K; an event that brings the community together in support of local children and families facing food insecurity.

We are truly grateful for this partnership. Health First not only understands the importance of accessible, nutritious food, they actively invest in solutions that make a difference. Their willingness to go the extra mile allows organizations like ours to innovate, grow, and better serve our neighbors.

Together, we are proud to be “Born in Brevard,” working side by side to build a healthier, stronger community for all.
